The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 Brings a New Ally for Mickey Haller’s Fight for Justice

Season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer is about to get very complicated for Mickey Haller, so he needs every friend he can find. Ahead of the murder trial which will see Haller defending himself, the show’s protagonist will be behind bars awaiting a court date for his case. While in jail, Mickey will get to know one of this season’s brand new members of The Lincoln Lawyer’s cast of characters.

Neve Campbell’s Maggie McPherson is already returning to The Lincoln Lawyer, to help Mickey with his case from outside jail. Still, Haller needs protection on the inside, too, particularly as he’s not used to handling life in prison, and whoever’s framing him for murder seems out there to get him. That’s why he’s counting on a new friend who sleeps in the jail cell next to his, who’ll prove key to Mickey getting out of jail alive, if the source material for The Lincoln Lawyer’s fourth season, Michael Connolly’s novel The Law of Innocence, is anything to go by.

Marcus Henderson Has Joined The Lincoln Lawyer As Mickey’s Jail Protector Yannick Bamba

Henderson’s Character Occupies The Cell Next Door To Haller In Jail

An update in late February announced that three new cast members are joining The Lincoln Lawyer for its upcoming season, one of whom is actor Marcus Henderson. With supporting roles in Jordan Peele’s satirical horror movie Get Out and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, Henderson has the acting experience needed to play Yannick Bamba, Mickey Haller’s jail-cell protector. A former LA gangster of West African origin, Bamba is just the kind of protection Mickey needs as he enters a world that’s completely alien to him.

Mickey Haller is still technically innocent until proven guilty, yet he sees danger coming from all sides, whether it’s fellow prisoners, prison guards or people on the outside.

Alongside Henderson’s Bamba on the inside, Mickey will have a brand new addition to his defense team in season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer, as his friends and colleagues do everything they can to prove his innocence. While Mickey makes friends with his cell neighbor Bamba, trainee lawyer Izzy Letts befriends her classmate at law school, Grace, who becomes a useful addition to the group working on Haller’s case.

Yannick Bamba’s Role Shows Mickey Haller’s Distrust Of The Justice System

Mickey Feels He Needs Bamba To Keep Him Safe Because He Doesn’t Trust Prison Guards To Do It

Nevertheless, Mickey’s immediate priority is staying safe inside the clink, so he can live to fight for his freedom another day. The fact that he needs hired protection, as Yannick Bamba is depicted in Connolly’s novel, during his jail time, shows how little Haller actually trusts the justice system to keep him safe. He’s still technically innocent until proven guilty, yet he sees danger coming from all sides, whether it’s fellow prisoners, prison guards or people on the outside looking to send him to death row, including The Lincoln Lawyer’s toughest prosecutor to date, Dana Berg.

During the course of season 4, we’ll see Yannick Bamba become not only a reliable source of protection, but a friend who earns Mickey’s respect through his actions. With things looking bad for Mickey Haller right now, he needs people he can rely on to help save him. While returning characters like Maggie, Izzy, Lorna Crane and Cisco Wojciechowski will be there no matter what, even that might not be enough. The stakes have been raised for The Lincoln Lawyer’s next big storyline, and Mickey needs someone with jail experience on his side to survive.
