Several months after the first teaser arrived, the latest news came in the form of a full trailer for School Spirits season 2. Opening with a sequence narrated by Maddie, the trailer finds her questioning whether she is even really dead. Then, she discovers that a ghost named Janet Hamilton has possessed her body, and she must team up with the gang to get her body back. On a creepy note, the trailer ends with Maddie and friends wondering if Janet’s possession is only the beginning of Maddie’s plight.

Paramount+ Was Quick To Renew The Supernatural Comedy
The announcement of School Spirits’ season 2 wasn’t a huge surprise, as it quickly became one of Paramount Plus’ most successful original series to date. When the show was renewed in June 2023, School Spirits had already been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike, and there is no reason to think that it won’t continue in season 2.

One of the strongest aspects of School Spirits season 1 was its ensemble, and season 2 was always expected to continue that trend. Maddie Fights Janet For Her Body
Season 2 of School Spirits could also offer some more backstory into exactly what happened to Janet, and how she assumed Maddie’s body.
The major question going into School Spirits season 2 is whether or not Maddie is going to be able to reclaim her body from Janet’s supernatural possession. This will probably account for the majority of the story, with the two fighting back and forth between two different planes of existence. This will make a huge change from season 1, which was mainly focused on Maddie’s crime-fighting in the afterlife – which now seems pretty low-stakes in comparison to the new direction the show seems to be taking.
Season 2 of School Spirits could also offer some more backstory into exactly what happened to Janet, and how she assumed Maddie’s body. The character was never seen in season 1, and only ever mentioned in passing, so it would be interesting to learn more about her history before she presumably becomes the show’s main antagonist. This would even give the series an opportunity for some flashbacks or even entire episodes set in the past, where they could answer several other questions about who these School Spirits characters used to be and how they became the people that they are now.
Paramount+ revealed the first teaser for School Spirits season 2 at 2024’s New York City Comic Con. The short clip is narrated by Maddie as she explains that what happens after death is far scarier than death itself. The shots alternate between Maddie as she sits near a window and is haunted by a reflection of herself in a black hoodie. Meanwhile, fast-cut clips show the intensity of season 2 and even a kiss between Maddie and Wally.
