Why Aren’t Harvey and Mike in Suits LA, and Where Are They Now?

The different focus of Suits LA and its protagonists being new to the Suits franchise raise some questions about where Mike Ross and Harvey Specter are now, given their absence from the spinoff series’ premiere. Suits LA’s different setting from its parent series, along with its disconnection from the firm at the center of Suits, makes it easy for Mike and Harvey not to be part of it, with Suits LA instead focusing on new main characters Ted Black, Stuart Lane, Erica Rollins, and Rick Dodsen.

Suits’ series finale provided a fitting ending for everyone at Litt Wheeler Williams Bennett, along with setting up Harvey and Donna’s next big adventure and concluding Harvey’s story. While Harvey’s connection with Ted Black can work as a setup for Suits LA’s story and the link between the spinoff and Suits, Harvey and Mike’s absence looms large in Suits LA’s premiere, especially with their bond being at the heart of the parent series. Answers about Mike and Harvey’s whereabouts can nevertheless be found in Suits’ finale, but hopefully Suits LA will also provide some updates about them in the future.

Mike & Harvey Are Presumably Still In Seattle During Suits LA

The Suits Series Finale Set Up That Future For Them

Suits’ series finale had a few aces up its sleeves in the way it sneakily let Donna and Harvey surprisingly tie the knot after Louis and Sheila had to leave their wedding due to Sheila going into labor. However, the biggest surprise of Suits’ series finale was arguably Harvey’s decision to leave behind his life in New York to join Mike in Seattle. Throughout Suits, a massive part of Harvey’s identity was being the “best closer in the city,” and choosing to leave all that and the firm behind was proof of how much he had changed for the better.

While not seeing them together in Suits LA is disappointing, Mike and Harvey still practicing law together in Seattle and fighting for the little guy instead of corporations for a change is heartwarming. Suits’ series finale set up the best possible ending for Harvey and Donna by reuniting them with Mike and Rachel, even if it happened off-screen. As Suits LA’s action takes center stage in the spinoff, it’s comforting to know Mike and Harvey are doing what they do best together like they did in Suits, but without Mike’s secret hanging over them and acting according to their values.

Will Mike & Harvey Appear In Suits LA?

Harvey’s Appearance In Suits LA Has Already Been Confirmed

Apart from establishing a direct link between Suits and Suits LA via Ted and Harvey having spent time together in New York, Suits LA will bring back Gabriel Macht’s Harvey for a 3-episode arc too. Harvey’s appearance in Suits LA is thus confirmed, and aside from introducing Ted Black to Suits audiences, Harvey can also update us on his and Donna’s life in Seattle, along with working in Mike and Rachel’s legal clinic there.

No other Suits cameo is confirmed to happen in Suits LA for now, making Mike’s appearance in the spinoff highly unlikely. However, even Suits LA’s premise makes Mike’s visit, or that from any other partner of Litt Wheeler Williams Bennett, improbable. After all, Harvey’s appearance in Suits LA has something to do with his past history with Ted, something not shared with any other of Harvey’s work family. This would make their visit entirely implausible, making it counterproductive to expect Mike to appear in Suits LA anytime soon.
