Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Law of Innocence by Michael Connelly!
Going into The Lincoln Lawyer for season 4, audiences hope the episodes include fan-favorite characters and specific storylines from the book that could contribute to an entertaining narrative. The popular Netflix legal drama has become one of the most popular original shows on the streaming platform, bringing in both fans of the book and newcomers to the world of Mickey Haller. Only a few months after the release of The Lincoln Lawyer season 3, Netflix renewed the show for season 4, which will adapt Michael Connelly’s The Law Of Innocence.
Like other fans of The Lincoln Lawyer, I cannot wait to see season 4. The story offers a fresh take on the legal drama format, giving Mickey his most difficult challenge yet – defending himself in a murder case. Sadly, it could be a while before The Lincoln Lawyer’s characters come back to our screens. While waiting, fans have started discussing what they hope to see in the upcoming season, with some requests being a popular sentiment.
5.Mickey & Hayley Haller Having A Closer Relationship
Mickey & Hayley’s Relationship Is The Most Heartwarming In The Lincoln Lawyer
Hayley and Mickey have had a distant relationship in The Lincoln Lawyer since she moved with Maggie to San Diego, and Eddie’s death made the situation even worse. Although they mended the rift at the end of season 3, their relationship needs more focus in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4. The stress of a criminal trial would undoubtedly bring the father and daughter closer together.
Confirmed Cast Members For The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 | ||
---|---|---|
Actor | Character | Status |
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo | Mickey Haller | Returning |
Becki Newton | Lorna Crane | Returning |
Jazz Raycole | Izzy Letts | Returning |
Angus Sampson | Dennis “Cisco” Wojciechowski | Returning |
Neve Campbell | Maggie McPherson | Returning |
Constance Zimmer | Dana Berg | New |
Marcus Henderson | Yannick Bamba | New |
Gigi Zumbado | Grace | New |
In the book The Law of Innocence by Michael Connelly, Hayley is in her first year of law school, but she makes time to have lunch or dinner with Mickey regularly. She also ditches class to be at all his hearings and his trial. It would be great to see some sort of equivalent to that story in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4.
4.Lorna Taking Over The Law Firm In The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4
Lorna Can Rise To The Challenge Of Running Mickey’s Law Firm
By the end of The Lincoln Lawyer season 3, Lorna is a fully-fledged lawyer, and Mickey gives her permission to take on any cases that she wants. This gives her a lot of free rein without the pressure of running the office or company. However, Mickey’s arrest in the final moments of The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 offers the perfect opportunity for Lorna to step up in an even bigger way.
Lorna could get thrust into the position of running the law firm with the help of Izzy while Mickey is in jail and preparing for trial, giving her experience with that side of the business. This would undoubtedly be challenging for a brand-new lawyer, but she is competent and strong-willed enough to handle it.
3.Maggie Working For The Defense Instead Of The Prosecution
Maggie Needs A Glimpse Into Mickey’s World As A Defense Attorney
Because of Neve Campbell’s increased role in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, Maggie could help with Mickey’s defense, whether that be preparing the case or fighting in the courtroom. This would give her the chance to show off her legal prowess, which hasn’t ever been on full display.
Neve Campbell’s Maggie will return for all 10 episodes of The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 after only appearing in 2 episodes of season 3.
Additionally, most of the problems in Mickey and Maggie’s relationship are rooted in the fact that she doesn’t understand or respect his work as a defense attorney. Maggie taking on an active role in Mickey’s case could offer her insight into his work. The pair might have the chance to succeed as a couple if Maggie saw the value in Mickey’s job.
2.Mickey Defending Himself From Behind Bars
Mickey Will Face A Serious Challenge Being Both The Lawyer And Defendant
In the story of The Law of Innocence, Mickey initially decides to stay behind bars because paying absorbatantly high bail would’ve required him to take money meant for Hayley’s college education. As such, he stays behind bars. Eventually, he can get out with an ankle monitor after the bail is decreased because of a sketchy decision by the prosecution. Unfortunately, he must go back behind bars before his trial, causing him to defend himself behind bars.
The idea of a defense attorney preparing for trial from behind bars is one of the most fascinating parts of the book, and I’m hoping the Netflix show will stay true to the book by including some episodes where he’s preparing for court from inside jail.
1.Elliot Gould’s Legal Siegel Returning In The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4
Legal Siegal’s Sage Advice And Guidance Could Be Helpful To Mickey
One of the best characters in The Lincoln Lawyer is Legal Siegal, the mentor and father figure for Mickey Haller. He has helped Mickey get out of many difficult situations and offered sage advice. The pair went through a rift in The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 because Legal accused Mickey of acting recklessly with zero regard for his or others’ safety. In all fairness, he was right.
However, it would feel wrong and out of character for Legal to stay away when Mickey’s going through a murder trial. Elliot Gould’s Legal Siegel coming back in The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 would not only maintain consistency in the story but could help fill in the gaps caused by Bosch’s absence. Unfortunately, others have been confirmed for season 4, but Elliot Gould’s return is only speculation as of the time of writing.
