Silo Season 2: Why This New Character’s Story Couldn’t Be Left Untold Before the End

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the Silo season 2 finale.

One of Silo‘s new characters needed to be put in their place before season 2 ended. After Juliette was sent outside to clean in Silo season 1’s ending, her world was forever changed, as she saw that her silo was only one of many. Juliette ventured to Silo 17, a nearby silo that initially seemed empty, until she discovered a man who called himself Solo (Steve Zahn), who had locked himself within the safety of the IT vault.

Juliette spent the majority of season 2 with Solo as she learned about Silo 17 and tried to figure out how to safely make it back to Silo 18. She eventually discovered that she and Solo were not alone and that three young adults and two children were also in Silo 17, although they were struggling to survive without the benefits and sustenance that Solo had in the vault. Juliette helped all of them out before returning home in Silo season 2’s ending, but not before teaching one of Silo 17’s survivors an important lesson.

Juliette Was Right To Call Out Audrey Before Leaving Silo 17

Audrey’s Mistreament Of Hope Could Not Be Allowed To Continue

Before Juliette left, she called out Audrey (Georgina Sadler) for being needlessly cruel towards Hope (Sara Hazemi). Audrey always referred to Hope as “Eater” and blamed her for all the survivors’ problems. When Juliette found her suit destroyed, Hope suggested that they could fix it, only for Audrey to mock her suggestion, and to say that Hope was probably the one who ruined it. This was Juliette’s breaking point, as she shouted at Audrey to “shut up” and to stop being angry at Hope, who was not responsible for any of Audrey’s problems.

Silo season 2 begins with a flashback that has a different impact after learning the full story of what occurred in Silo 17 years earlier.

Juliette told Audrey to direct her anger at the people who put her ancestors in the silos in the first place. Until those answers are found, Juliette emphasized that the only way that Silo‘s characters can survive is by trusting each other and working together as they are all stuck in the same difficult situation. Juliette convinced Audrey to be grateful for the loved ones she still had and to be angry with Hope instead of being angry at her. After that, Audrey did not call Hope “Eater” again, nor did she insult her any further.

Why Audrey Was So Awful To “Eater” In The First Place Throughout Silo Season 2

Audrey Only Viewed Hope As A Mouth To Feed

When Hope’s mother got sick, she asked Audrey’s father and Rick’s (Orlando Norman) mother to take Hope in. They took Hope in, but she was another mouth to feed, and food was already scarce. Audrey and Rick’s parents were later killed by Solo when they infiltrated the vault and attacked him in an attempt to acquire food. Audrey and Rick blamed Hope for their parents’ deaths and gave her the nickname the “Eater,” because that was all Hope was to them.

Juliette has a way of significantly impacting everyone she meets in Silo, and Hope was no exception.

Audrey belittled Hope and directed all her frustrations at her, until Juliette made Audrey see the error of her ways. Before Juliette left, she asserted to Hope that what happened to Audrey and Rick’s parents was not Hope’s fault. Juliette reminded Hope that she was strong, smart, and capable. Juliette has a way of significantly impacting everyone she meets in Silo, and Hope was no exception, with Juliette helping the young woman believe in herself, along with figuring out how to find common ground with her Silo 17 survivors.
