The Love is Blind season 8 finale premieres this March 7, and it has been revealed that Vanessa Boreland and Adam Bevis’ love story was edited out of the show, so what happened? With the finale right around the corner, many revelations have emerged about cast members who didn’t make it to air. This includes three connections, some leading to engagements and others to heartbreak, such as Brittany Dodson (aka B.Dot) and Mo Ndiaye, and Kylie Schuelke and Brian Sumption. Now, news of Vanessa and Adam’s near engagement adds to the growing list of unseen relationships.
Unlike Brittany and Mo, who left the pods engaged but later broke up, Vanessa and Adam’s journey ended before they could even take that step. Their relationship unfolded like many others, yet their story was left out of the final edit. This is surprising, considering the show’s dedicated screen time to “love rhombus” involving Madison Errichiello, Alex Brown, Mason Horacek and Meg Fink. As a result, viewers are left wondering what really happened between Vanessa and Adam, and whether they continued their relationship after the pods.
Vanessa and Adam’s Short-Lived Romance
The Couple Almost Got Engaged
Audiences can confirm that 31-year-old Vanessa and 33-year-old Adam are nearly absent from Love is Blind season 8, only appearing briefly in the men’s and women’s quarters during the final days of the pod dates. Therefore, raising questions about how far the pair’s relationship progressed. While the couple remains under an NDA, Vanessa’s mom, Sue Boreland, has shared details. In an interview with MPR News, she confirmed that Vanessa and Adam formed a deep connection in the pods. However, despite pursuing each other seriously, their relationship ultimately didn’t last.
She revealed, “[Vanessa] was like dating somebody throughout the pods all the way up until the end, before they go on the vacation.” She explained that Vanessa and Adam made it to engagement day, but Adam ultimately decided he wasn’t ready—similar to Alex and Madison’s storyline. As a result, the couple ended things in the pods. However, according to Sue, their story didn’t end there. The two later decided to “give things a shot in Minneapolis” away from the cameras. Unfortunately, their relationship was short-lived and they eventually called it quits.
Vanessa’s Mom Weighed In
And She Had A Lot To Say
Like many Love is Blind season 8 cast members, Vanessa joined the series to find love after struggling with dating apps and scenes. According to Sue’s interview, she encouraged Vanessa to apply to meet new people and possibly her future husband. Sue shared, “I really hoped that she would meet someone. Like this was not about, you know, clout or, you know, just going on TV. I really had high hopes that there was going to be some good options for her and that she would meet someone.” She did, but unfortunately, no one got to see it.
“[Vanessa] was kind of surprised. She was like, ‘wow, with all that going on, I’m wondering why they didn’t show that.'”
Vanessa’s journey to finding the one wasn’t captured, especially her short-lived connection with Adam, which was said to be quite emotional. “They had this dramatic breakup where they were crying and it was really a big deal,” Sue recalled. Hence, their absence left Sue and Vanessa surprised as to why she and Adam were given no screen time. Excluding the couple only contributed to criticism of the season’s missing couples, including Kylie and Brian, who didn’t get engaged, but are now rumored to be, after production wrapped up.
What Their Absence Says About The Show
A Missed Opportunity For Diversity In Love Is Blind
The duo’s absence sparked criticism over the show’s lack of diversity, a hot topic among viewers. This was especially notable as another couple, Brittany and Mo, were people of color and got engaged, but were excluded from the show. Redditor @Skinnybeans25 commented, “As someone from Saint Paul, this season’s diversity is TERRIBLE. I can’t even watch. The casting crew literally went to White Suburbia and called it a day.” Meanwhile, the series focused mostly on the love stories of white cast members. Therefore, excluding Vanessa and Adam raises questions about whether the show prioritizes certain narratives while overlooking diverse stories.
Love Is Blind finale premieres this Friday on March 7 on Netflix.
