James Martin previously recalled “going through hell” amid his cancer battle.
Back in 2018, James – who hosts James Martin’s Saturday Morning today (April 19) – was diagnosed with facial cancer. However, fans were not informed of this until July 2023.
At the time had been accused of ‘bullying’ members of production and accused of having a temper tantrum. He later apologised for his behaviour by stating: “Lessons have been learned.”
In late last year, James opened up about his cancer journey as he issued an update.

James revealed in 2023 that he’d been diagnosed with facial cancer in 2018.
Shortly after, and during an interview on Lorraine, James revealed he was recovering well – although he did rather admit his stitches were “falling out of his bod” after an op.
Fast forward to November 2024, and James issued another update – while reflecting on “going through hell”.
Speaking on the Good Food podcast in November 2024, James revealed to host Samuel Goldsmith that his health issues had “returned on several occasions” and as a a result, required “regular treatments”.

Reflecting on his journey, James said: “When you’re going through the hell that I’ve gone through in the last six years and you’ve just been given the all clear.”
The chef then revealed how he was deeply affected by both being given the initial diagnosis, and also when he found out he was clear of cancer.
“When you get given that news, it’s horrific. But when you’re given the news at the end of it, it makes you think in a different light,” he said.
‘So onwards and upwards’
Meanwhile, during a Lorraine appearance in 2024, Lorraine said to the chef: “Things are good, everything is good for you, isn’t it?”
“Yes,” he told her after she asked if everything was good. He then added: “The stitches are falling out.”
James shared more details as he revealed: “As you know, last time you were on [James Martin’s Saturday Morning] I was in the middle of operations and bits and pieces.”
He then added: “But as we speak, the stitches are falling out of my body at the moment. That’s all clear,” he added. “So onwards and upwards.”
