Don’t Die: The Man Who Wants to Live Forever is a Netflix original documentary movie premiering on January 1, 2025. It definitely should be on your watchlist. The story of this film is about Bryan Johnson, who has been the subject of various articles regarding his procedures for defying aging.

2 Number 24

Another new year release is Number 24 or Nr. 24. It is a Norwegian film about WWII that was released in the Norwegian theatres earlier this year but in most regions around the world, including the US, is premiering as Netflix original.
The storyline revolves around a Norwegian young man whose desire to rebel against the Nazis sets a new future for him and for his country. This should be on your watchlist if you like to watch war films.
3 Cunk on Life
Cunk on Life is a comedy special movie starring Diane Morgan who will be seen as her comedic documentarian character, Philomena Cunk. She is someone who is in search of the true meaning of life. As per a report in Deadline, Cunk will explore subjects from Quantum Physics, Existentialism, Nihilism, and Hedonism to biology, morals, meditation, art, and artificial intelligence in her expedition.

Morgan first introduced her character, Cunk as a journalist and documentary host who brings an absurd and deadpan approach on serious topics. This special will be released on January 2, 2025.
4 Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl

Are you an animated movie lover? Then you should definitely wait for Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl to release next year in January. Aardman Animations is back with another film from the popular franchise, bringing Wallace and Gromit to the fans.
In this movie, the storyline follows Gromit’s concern about Wallace becoming dependent on his inventions. The duo will face new and old enemies in this upcoming follow-up which has been awaited for a long time. It will premiere on January 3, 2024.
5 80 for Brady
80 for Brady is a comedy-drama that follows four friends Trish (Jane Fonda), Betty (Sally Field), Lou (Lily Tomlin), and Maura (Rita Moreno) who live their lives to the fullest. However, the story begins when these four friends embark on a wild trip to see their hero, none other than Tom Brady.

The four ‘young’ friends will watch Brady play the 2017 Super Bowl, and how they will deal with the aftermath is all about the drama. This sports/comedy flick has a special appearance by Tom Brady. It’s going to be quite fun to watch these veteran actresses together obsessing over the NFL star. It’s premiering on Netflix on January 4, 2025.
6 Back in Action
Back in Action is another Netflix original starring Cameron Diaz and Jamie Foxx. As per reports, it is Netflix’s one of the first big-budget movie of the year with a storyline that follows Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx). They used to be former CIA spies but gave up their life to start a family.

However, things get complicated when the pair is pulled back into their former life after bursting their identity. Cameron Diaz’s return makes it one of the most anticipated films of the next year. It’s going to premiere on January 17, 2024.
7 The Electric State
Another anticipated movie from next year is The Electric State. It is a sci-fi adaptation from the Russo Brothers starring Millie Bobby Brown and Chris Pratt. Reportedly, the film has been made with a budget of $200 million. The storyline is based on Simon Stålenhag’s book of the same name.

It revolves around a runaway teenager and her yellow toy robot who embark on a journey through a strange USA in search of her younger brother. In the process, she meets with Keats (Pratt) and many more robots. How they deal with the situation and whether she finds her brother is all about the drama. When Brown was asked why she chose to do this project, she told Collider,
… the fact that they wanted me only made me want them even more. And to be able to have that opportunity to make this movie with them has been such an amazing experience, and it’s just been a really good collaborative effort. It feels like I’m actually working with, I mean, real, real experienced, experienced team. Their team is incredible, the directors are amazing, obviously, and I’ve got an amazing cast to be alongside.
The film is releasing on March 14 on Netflix.
8 10Dance

10Dance is a Japanese romantic live-action drama adapted from the popular manga series. The storyline captures the beautiful collision of competitive dance, pride, passion, and love. Directed by Keisi Otomo, it stars Ryoma Takeuchi and Keita Machida. If you love watching Asian movies and series, give this one a try. It is scheduled to stream on Netflix in 2025.
9 Fear Street: Prom Queen
Ever since the Fear Street Trilogy was released on Netflix in 2021, fans have been waiting with bated breath for more from the franchise. Now, the wait is finally over as Fear Street: Prom Queen is going to premiere in 2025 on the streaming platform. This film will be an adaptation of the 15th book of R.L Stine’s horror collection.

The storyline centers around Lizzie McVay, a student at Shadyside High School and one of the nominees of the prom queen. However, when one by one the prom queen nominees get brutally murdered, Lizzie feels she could be next.
Unfortunately, we don’t have a release date for the film but expect it to hit Netflix in the first half of 2025.
10 Frankenstein
Guillermo del Toro is bringing back Dr. Frankenstein’s horror in his upcoming project, Frankenstein. The story will revolve around the classic tale of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley’s 1818 novel, which has been adapted into several movies in different timelines.

While talking about the project, Toro confirmed to Collider,
I’m doing Frankenstein. We’re working on it, we start shooting on it in February. It’s a movie I’ve been wanting to do for 50 years since I saw the first Frankenstein and I had an epiphany and is basically a movie that requires a lot of growth and a lot of tools that I couldn’t have done 10 years ago, 20 years ago and now I’m brave or crazy enough or something and we’re going to tackle it.
It is scheduled to be released in 2025 on Netflix, the date hasn’t been declared yet.
10 Happy Gilmore 2
After a long wait, Happy Gilmore starring Adam Sandler is finally back with a sequel. Netflix confirmed the project in mid-2024, and as per reports, the filming was supposed to wrap up by November 2024. Apart from Sandler reprising his role, details of the movie have been kept under wraps.

Tim Herlihy and Adam Sandler are behind the scripts with Kyle Newacheck on board as the director. It is expected to premiere in July 2025.
11 Havoc

One of the most anticipated crime dramas, Havoc, starring Hardy is going to release on Netflix in the upcoming year of 2025. Netflix is the one-stop destination for all the creative animations. K-Pop: Demon Hunters has been rumored to be coming on Netflix for a long time. Finally, it’s going to premiere in 2025 on the streaming platform. Directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, the story follows a popular K-pop girl gang who live a double life as demon hunters.
15 Kinda Pregnant

A rom-com starring Amy Schumer? Yes, please. Kinda Pregnant is a film that revolves around a woman named Lainy who gets jealous of her best friend’s pregnancy. So much so that she starts roaming around wearing a fake baby bump when she meets the man of her dreams. What happens next to Lainy is all about the drama.
Schumer is joined by Jillian Bell, Will Forte, Brianne Howey, and Damon Wayans Jr.. Directed by Tyler Spindel, the movie is expected to release in the latter half of 2025.
16 Little Siberia

Another foreign-language film is listed here for you to enjoy. Little Siberia is a Finnish movie revolving around a small town that faces a meteorite fall, creating a great impact on the town. The streaming date has not been confirmed yet, but it’s due in 2025.
17 Plankton: The Movie
Based on the Spongebob Squarepants television series, Plankton: The Movie is an upcoming animated musical comedy that is scheduled for a 2025 Netflix release. However, prior to its original release date, the film was leaked in 2024 but later got removed from every platform. Now, fans have been waiting for it to have a fresh release.

The plot of the movie centers around Plankton who continues running the Chum Bucket, despite failing to dominate the world, along with his computer-wife, Karen. However, amid all this, his rivalry with Mr. Krabs is still going on.
19 Revelations
A South Korean thriller drama? Can’t wait! Revelations is created by Yeon Sang-Ho (the mind behind Train to Busan), along with Choi Gyu-Seok (screenwriter). The mystery thriller features Ryu Yun-Yeol and Shin Hyun-Been in the lead. It will stream in 2025 but the release date has not been revealed yet on Netflix.

The storyline revolves around Min-Chan, a pastor of a church in a small town, who gets consumed by a divine revelation. He even starts to believe that the man, Yang-Rae visiting his church has abducted his son.
On the other hand, detective Yeon-Hee is after Yang-Rae being a suspect in her missing case. However, she also has her share of trauma to deal with. How does this all play out in the end? There’s only one way to find out.
20 The Life List
Based on the novel written by Lori Nelson Spielman of the same name, The Life List is an upcoming adaptation on Netflix starring Sofia Carson in the lead. Directed and written by Adam Brooks. The exact release date is still TBD, but it is going to premiere any time in 2025.

21 The Right Track

The Right Track starring Ada Eide, Trond Fausa and Christian Rubeck is another Norwegian movie that you should wait for in 2025. It’s a beautiful story about a woman named Emilie who believes her life has come to a halt while her ex-husband has moved on and wants their daughter to live with him. Meanwhile, a huge accident turns Emilie’s life upside down, making her move in with her sporty brother.
However, things take a different turn when her brother gives her an ultimatum – either she leaves or if she wants to stay, she has to participate in the Birken a 54 km skiing race. Emilie who never skied before, accepts the offer. What started off as a nightmare becomes the biggest accomplishment of her life. The release date on Netflix is yet to be announced.
22 The Twits
Netflix is coming up with a Ronald Dahl’s adaptation into a movie called The Twits. The story centers around Mr. and Mrs. Twits – two nasty, grotesque people who live in a dilapidated and neglected house. Even though they are a couple, they cannot tolerate each other. However, things take a sharp turn when two brave orphans and a magical animal family are forced to become as tricky as the Twits to save their city.

Zootopia fame Phil Johnson is creating The Twits. This film is going to be a star-studded affair as actors like Natalie Portman, Emilia Clarke, Johnny Vegas, and Margo Martindale have been confirmed to be the voice artists. It will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
23 Troll 2

Another anticipated 2025 movie Troll 2, the sequel of the most-watched international film about a Norwegian troll is coming back on the streaming platform. In Troll, the storyline revolves around the time when an ancient troll was awakened in a Norwegian mountain, and a group of heroes team up together to save the planet from its wrath.
