Wednesday season 2 is coming later this year, and Netflix is wasting no time providing what happened to Tyler Galpin after season 1’s finale. After its debut season in 2022, the follow-up installment is set to release in 2025. A release date hasn’t been announced, but details regarding Wednesday season 2’s cast have been shared. Aside from Jenna Ortega’s return as the titular character, Hunter Doohan will return as Tyler, who was revealed to be the infamous Hyde in Wednesday season 1’s ending.
The Hyde’s true identity lingered throughout Wednesday‘s freshman season. Despite the twist, Tyler wasn’t technically the main villain in the first season, as that honor went to Marilyn Thornhill, who used Tyler’s family secret of being Hydes and used him to do her dirty work. As a descendant of Joseph Crackstone, Thornhill, aka Laurel Gates, forced Tyler to use his Hyde form to kill other outcasts in Wednesday. Though Thornhill’s fate is unknown, the Next on Netflix trailer gives a glimpse into Tyler’s whereabouts in Wednesday season 2.
Tyler Is Being Held In Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital After Being Taken Into Custody In Wednesday’s Season 1 Finale
Tyler Is Still Chained Up In Wednesday’s New Footage
Tyler went after Wednesday in the season 1 finale before being interrupted by Enid in her werewolf form. With the help of Tyler’s dad, the Hyde was defeated, as Tyler was last shown tied up and being taken away from Nevermore Academy in an armored car. As confirmed in the Next on Netflix trailer, a new vision of Wednesday’s is briefly teased, revealing that Tyler is being held at Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital. Not only is he being held in the facility, but he’s also being chained to a wall in an isolated room.
The vision also shows a look at Wednesday seemingly coming face-to-face with a shirtless Tyler, who lifts his head when the camera zooms in on him. Rather than a sinister glare, Tyler looks emotionally and psychically drained. With that said, Wednesday’s vision powers are often violent and could be a warning of what’s to come. It’s also important to note that Tyler’s mom was also held at Willow Hill when her Hyde form was unleashed after Tyler was born. Francoise Galpin died before the events of Wednesday, and sadly, her son is now on the path to a similar fate.
Tyler Is Being Chained Up To Keep His Hyde From Attacking Others & Fleeing Willow Hill
Tyler Is Still Extremely Dangerous & Unpredictable
The Willow Hill tease in Netflix’s Wednesday season 2 footage indicates that the location could be significant to the next chapter of the supernatural series. It certainly makes sense why the character is still being chained up, considering Tyler’s Hyde form gives him superhuman strength. Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital is playing it extra safe in preventing Tyler’s monster transformation, which could easily lead to his escape from the facility. That said, it will be interesting to see if the “hospital” uses treatment or torture to control dangerous patients.
From Xavier’s uncertain off-screen fate to the identity of Tyler’s new Hyde master, there are a lot of bold predictions for Wednesday season 2.
It’s a bit surprising that Netflix would reveal Tyler’s fate ahead of Wednesday season 2. Then again, Wednesday confronting Tyler might help her better understand his identity as a fellow outcast or give her closure after she emotionally opened up to him. Even if he is locked up, at least for part of season 2, it was made clear that Wednesday isn’t totally done with Tyler just yet. Perhaps Tyler’s season 2 story will uncover more details about Willow Hill and Thornhill. Or maybe Wednesday will become the new Hyde master.
