No Good Deed Season 1 Ending Explained: The Fate of the Morgans’ House and Family Unveiled by Creator

No Good Deed creator explains what happened to the Morgan family’s house in the season 1 finale. Netflix’s new dark comedy series arrived on December 12 with all eight episodes. The series revolves around Lydia (Lisa Kudrow) and Paul (Ray Romano) as they put their house on the market after their son’s tragic death. After a series of dark twists, confrontations, heartbreak, and indecision, the Morgans sell their house to another family at the end of the season.

While speaking with Netflix’s Tudum, creator Liz Feldman dove into the behind-the-scenes story about how they came to season 1’s ending. She credited writer Bruce Eric Kaplan for the joyous resolution of the Los Feliz deed. She explained that they wanted to give “someone a happy ending,” so that “the life of this house” could continue with “a totally fresh family who could bring love and care to it.” Check out what she said below:

“He was like, ‘Can’t we just give someone a happy ending? Don’t we want it to feel satisfying?’ We wanted it to feel like the life of this house could continue with a totally fresh family who could bring its own love and care to it. And that there’s a family that this house can take care of in return”

What This Means For No Good Deed

No Good Deed Wraps Up Season 1 Beautifully

No Good Deed has taken viewers on a dark ride as secrets, betrayals, and lies begin to surface around Jacob Morgan’s death, which happened three years ago in the house. The series also introduces several potential buyers with different intentions. Paul and Lydia are not on the same page about selling the house. Paul wants to get rid of the house, but Lydia can’t let go of the memories held between the walls. Over eight episodes, Lydia and Paul are able to move forward on their healing journey, and selling the house meant a huge step for the couple.

The Morgans’ house also symbolizes hope and the start of a new life for another family. No Good Deed finale sees two families competing for the deed of the house. Both are loving parents welcoming a third member into their family and equally deserving of a beautiful house to call home. Leslie and Sarah are the new owners of the house, while Dennis and Carla move across the street. By giving everyone a happy ending, the series offers hope at the end of a dark and windy journey.

Our Take On No Good Deed

No Good Deed’s Ending Is Hard Earned

No Good Deed season 1 finale wraps up events in the most satisfying way possible. Everyone gets what they deserve, and they sure have earned it. Leslie and Sarah went the extra mile to get the Morgan house. Not only would they honor the memories of the house, but they would also take care of it in a way that honors Lydia and Paul. For instance, the couple would take care of Lydia’s tangerine tree, while Dennis and Carla might remove it, which proves that Leslie and Sarah are the perfect new owners for the Morgan house.

By selling the house, Lydia and Paul are moving on from the shadow cast by their son’s death. No Good Deed offers justice for Jacob’s death and sees the villain get what she deserves. Lydia is finally free from her self-imposed prison, where she’s able to connect with her son and daughter through what they love. The finale is very rewarding for the hard paths No Good Deed’s characters walked through in the first season.
